Summertime temperatures are heating up! In need of a healthy, cold treat? We've got a fantastically fresh, dentist-approved, no sugar added sorbet recipe that you'll love!

All you need to whip up this delicious sorbet is about 10 minutes, 2 kitchen tools (1 food processor or ice crushing blender, and 1 spatula), and 3 ingredients (frozen fruit, orange juice and lemon juice). For those who like botanical flavors, you can try adding a sprig or two of fresh basil and/or mint either directly in your sorbet or as a fragrant garnish.

Most fruits work very well using this sorbet recipe as long as they have high liquid content. You can use already prepared frozen fruit (check your grocer's freezer aisle), or fresh fruit that you have washed, chopped into ~1 inch chunks if necessary, then let freeze for at least 4 hours or overnight. Some fruits and berries that work beautifully with this recipe are: strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, pineapple, watermelon, peaches and mango. You can try just using just one fruit to start with, or mix and match to make your own amazing blend.

Though no added sugar is definitely something to smile about with this all natural recipe, fruit does contain quite a lot of sugar on its own. Remember to rinse your mouth with plain water after enjoying this delicious treat; the water will help rinse away sugary remnants clinging to your mouth and teeth.

No Sugar Added Sorbet Recipe

Tools You Will Need:

-Food processor or ice crushing blender

-Spatula

Ingredients:

-3 cups frozen fruit of your choice

-3-4 tablespoons orange juice

-1 teaspoon lemon juice

-Optional add-ins or garnish: a sprig or two of fresh mint and/or basil

Instructions:

1. Tip all your fruit (plus fresh herbs if you are using them) into your food processor and pulse until smooth, pausing to scrape down the sides with your spatula several times as necessary.

Tip: If you’d like to speed the process along a bit, you can fold in a bit of warm water periodically. Just be careful not to water down the fruit mixture too much – no more than 2-3 tablespoons of water!

2. Once the mixture is quite smooth, drizzle in the orange juice and lemon juice and pulse until well blended.

3. Spoon out your sorbet into small cups or bowls, garnish with fresh herbs if you'd like, and enjoy!

*Additional Notes:

This homemade sorbet is fantastic to enjoy immediately, but you can also store it in the freezer for about 3-4 hours if you want to make it ahead of time.

It will keep in the freezer for up to a few weeks, but it will be quite hard and difficult to scoop once it’s frozen solid. You can still soften and enjoy your frozen sorbet by moving it to the refrigerator for a few hours before serving, or leave it out at room temperature for about one hour.
